Sorry looking two'ee - some unsympathetic sexy fingers has been at work.

The front brake and the handle bars are worth $500 each on there own!!!!

Everything gets called a cafe racer or a bobber these days! Take a few bits off and put an unfeasible seat on.... hey presto!
Interesting clip ons.

I have never understood the cafe racer concept, can anyone enlighten me?

Are we racing to the cafe, racing from the cafe, bench racing at the cafe, pitting 2 buildings that sell coffee together in a grudge match to see who wins, or just butchering old bikes in an attempt to be hip and happening with no mechanical or engineering sympathy or ability?

I think

'building a hackjob motorcycle which vaguely looks like a vintage road racer, but is built so poorly that it is only good for riding to the cafe and back'

PS: open face helmet and goggles seem to be mandatory also.
the following 4T propaganda was brought to you by your local 2T lobby group...

"whats that youve got there?... a 450? "
yeah...
"what cereal packet did that come out of? "
huh?...
"I just wanted to know, because theres nothing worse than finding a piece of shit in the bottom of your corn flakes. "

Easy answer is to look up Ace Cafe and 59 Club (don't get your numbers mixed up if Grannie is in the room), when I say the Ace Cafe have a look for photos from the 50's and 60's, as the Ace Cafe has re-opened in recent years, but is a clever business and not like it was in the historical context.

I believe there are many clever restorers, many clever customisers, but also legions of fuckwits armed with welders and hacksaws :-(

On the upside of that, apart from the many fixable bikes sent to heaven or hell, there must be a fair number which become usable spare parts when the hackers can't work out what to do with them?
