Yamaha yl3 restoration

G'day race fans. 2 years ago i purchased an original yamaha yl3 that had been stored under a house for around ten years. Complete bike that had it's fair share of surface rust on the chrome and back yard paint touch up. I spent a few weekends cleaning carbs, setting new points, cleaning the drive chain and adjusting brakes and clutch. Once running i was hooked on this marvellous little 100cc smoker. the engine will start on first push of your hand on the kick starter. The sound is awsome. it's a sound only a piston port twin has. I've not had to touch the engine other then the tune up. Compression is 125ps on both cylinders. it idles so smooth that i believe the original seals don't need changing. Performance? well i weigh 96kg's and i've taken it onto the closed highway and reached 70mph on the dial.
Anyway the time has come for a restoration. The bike is stripped, all the chrome is at the chromers and the engine is sitting on the bench being cleaned and polished. The original indicators are alluninium and have polished up like a mirror. In the last month i have recieved over a dozen boxes of new genuine parts i've had on ebay wish lists from all over the world. I have new rims coming from boats net usa who is the cheapest for oem parts on the net.
Anyway i've been dying to share this info with some fellow smokers and today i recieved new old stock mufflers so i though it only fitting to celibrate buy introducing this restoration with the good members on this site . I will be updating as things progress. Hera is a few pics for now

I have a YL1 and it is a laugh a minute to ride. Vintage Avenue who sell on eBay out of Asia are a good source of parts too.

discovered that what i thought to be chromed plastic indicators, where in fact badly painted over aluminium originals. yamaha tuning fork symbol and part number in raised lettering inside.try to find that sort of part numbering on aImagenything from today. final polish to come.
