Want to build a special

G'day Smokers
I rebuilt my 350LC with a few mods but kept it looking nearly std it will rev to 10k and has torque in the mid range, now I want to build a special for the road of cause, got a reasonable condition 87 RZ250r and have just acquired a 95 RGV250 it's rego'd but i'm happy to cannibalise it. these bikes are both faired but my neck and wrists tell me it has to be streetfighter style, I'm thinking front and rear end from RGV on RZ and maybe RGV rear subframe as well the RGV needs a fairing to hide the ugly engine and I don't think too many people have done RZ engine into RGV although they go into RS250s. If I did the complete RGV rear end on the RZ the shock wouldn't need any work just welding lugs on to take the subframe this would give me a single seat rear end that looks good and a home for the battery etc. The RGV is a very attractive bike with a much better looking frame than the RZ and a fair bit lighter, not worrying about the engine yet just get it in one piece first. not scared to spend a bit $$$ on it even if I have to sell my 80 Suzuki GS1000s with RGV wheels.
any ideas appreciated

Plenty put the RZ motor in the RG, but the RGV wasnt as easy to do for some reason.

There are kits to do the RGV rear end in an RGV, see my 83 build on my site, i talk about it there a bit. there is also a pdf of the home made plans for much the same version on my site.

The RGV frame might not be wide enough. RGV engine is only 1 cylinder wide.

Take some measurements before you go too far and see what your chances are.

Thats true! I'd forgotten that, the RG is a side by side config, hence why the RZ motor fits...
