G'day race fans. Last week a mate messaged me asking if i know anyone who would like to buy his TZR? I bought it. I helped him tune it up and fix a few things ready for rego 12months ago, so i know the bike and loved the way it handles. Bike has new tyres, batterie, brake pads and motor runs sweet. Fuel tap leaks a bit, so that will need some attention. Will probable sort out heavier fork springs for my weight otherwise i'm hoping for info from tzr owners about these little beauties. Just looking for budget tips to get the best out of these bikes.

Great bikes these.
Check out the TZR Forum.

My bike is highly modified for racing as is shown in the F3 TZR thread.
If you modify them the trick is not to lose the attributes that make them so great.
Don't fit twin disks. Keep the unsprung weight low.
Is your bike an Aussie or a Jap model?

G'day mboddy. It's a jap model. seem's the chambers are not stock (any ideas on the id?). the bike pulls really well. I won't be doing to much to it untill i get some solid k's on it to see what needs attention. I've got 2 rz350's but there's something about this little bike that i really like. having problems wth the cold start, pulled one of the carbs of found old filter foam in the bowl. the cold start orifaces are very small. starts fine when warm. I'll be going over the whole bike next week to see what other problems i can find, Will also check the sag to see how far out it is with my weight. Am very happy with the way it steers though. Your right it's allot about it's weight.

Good idea to ride it a lot before changing anything.
The front end will be very soft because it will be setup for Japanese tastes.
Hardly any damping - the Oz damper rods are a lot different.
Don't really want to change springs until compression damping is sorted.
I will provide some details later.
My forks will be apart later in the year and I can take some photos then.
Best to fit some cartridge emulators. I used YSS PD Valves but I believe that there are also cheap copies made for Harleys that will work.
The rebound holes will need welding and redrilling smaller and extra compression holes drilled so the Valves do all the compression damping.
