I've lost the semi circular circlips that fit in the upper and lower engine casing around the crank bearings.
Any tips on sourcing these?

Thanks

g'day both circlips still available from yamaha or google the numbers. Part number 278-17424-01 circlip 1 (this one is behind drive sprocket.) and the other is 278-17425-00 circlip 2. should be no more then $6 each.

Thanks for the response. Maybe I have this wrong but how many semi circle clips fit to each bearing? I assumed 2 halves? Alternatively if there's only 1 half then perhaps I haven't lost any. The lower casing has a groove to seat the clip but the upper doesn't seen to have. What confused me was that the bearing has the groove all the way round and two halves seem to be identical.
Could you please confirm?
Cheers

G'day gavin. your all good mate the circlip is only half a clip. it's used to stop the bearing moving in or out. If you would like to look at a diagram google boatsnet they have the transmision parts diagram.

Great, thanks gman. I've got several manuals and pdfs. There's also the partzilla website but I still couldn't work out whether you order 2 halves. You've made my day and saved a few quid as I was about to order a complete new set. Gavin

Gavin, only just seen this... one per brg. The online parts books tell you how many on the page, thats good clue if you get stuck.

Thanks Jon, I just had another look and found the # of parts needed column.
Did you see my post in the projects forum? Not sure what to do about the orange O rings so I've left the old ones in for now. I have a few weeks before the engine goes back in so if I need to buy more I can revisit this job. I know my way around them fairly well now. I'm about to seal the crank halves. Will post an update when complete.

Just looked, the problem is the new ones yam do often dont fit, as you found out. Take an old seal and the bush to a bearing place and see if they can match it up to get a good fit, make sure you tell em it will have oil and heat in its life, they should help you out.

Oh, and told you this was easy didnt I! :D

I went to Hooper Bearings. They could match but not for a high temp ring. I ordered from overseas so I could push on. Next stop is sealing the crank case halves once I've tested my gear change works still.
