Hi All, newby here. Please tell me which year cylinders can I fit onto my 01 YZ250 2 stroke bottom end? I am getting conflicting answers from different sources.

I want to see If I can fit an 2003-2012 Cylinder on my 2001 block? Are they the same ? The middle numbers match up on the parts number but the first and last letters and numbers dont.

I am a bit confused please help :?:

the middle numbers say that the part is a cylinder
The first part is the bike model that the part first was fitted to
the last part is the revision number

The part numbers wont really help you, they just uniquely identify the part within the boundaries that Mark has said. what you need is someone who has actually fitted them to tell you of they fit. Ie I can tell you that CR250 cylinders from 73 and 74 can be swapped round and that 75 is totally different etc.

The YZ250 big bore kits swap from 1999 -2016 which suggests that barrels swap.
But as Jon suggests, you need to talk to some who has - or take an educated punt.
Talk to one of the specialist MX shops or tuners. Where do you live?

Thanks I will make some calls and see what answers I get. In the meantime if anyone else want's to weigh in on this discussion with any further factual information that would be most helpful.
