Redeemable?

Whatcha reckon Brains Trust - redeemable?

The underside looks pretty good despite the one lot of rust pin holes. Probably have to cut it open to have a good look - or a vid camera on a optic fibre lead.

Hey, O-E, 'shit'll buff out'..
Got skills? No?
Find someone who has, maybe a retired panel-beater, who'll do it for you..
Chuck a lick of lead in 'er..

I'd save it.
IMO, they are too bloody pricey to casually buy in repro-form..

The tank was an unexpected extra in the Ebay lucky dip from Al so the price is basically zero.

I think the real question is 'can it be resto'ed for a financially viable price?'. That would be dependent on the internal condition. I'm not quite sure how good those optic fibre cable videos cameras are for picking up detail but that would be a start. Given that the guts are okay I think it is redeemable given the skills - which ain't me  .

I think the next easiest step is to have more of a fiddle with the Lamoto tank to see if I can make it work, that will require swapping a few triples. Luckily the Lucky Dip included RZ and TZR triples.

I had a bad tank.maybe not that bad thou.
Cost me 250.
Then another 250 to have professionally dent knocked and lead filled.
Another 200 to be cleaned inside.
Then paint....

I think Kman is right, it's the sort of job that if you can DIY it's worth doing, but if you have to pay someone else to do it... forget it, cost way too much. Is redeemable though.

Jeeze KMAN, they musta seen you coming a mile off..

$ 200- to clean the inside?

You were bloody well ripped off, mate..
That job's a $50- max DYI, with off-the-shelf retail Bunnings stuff..
& then, only if you don't have anything handy..

There's pretty well no way around it but to cut a panel out so it can be panel-beaten properly from the inside using a dolly, then de-rusted and welded up again. All that can be done. But particularly the welding is a skilled job. It might be possible to make a special dolly to go down the back to get behind that nasty creased ding back there, but I doubt it.
But there are plenty of people who would do a horrible 'hack' job with bog on the outside and so-called 'liner' (crap) on the inside. My vote is: Bollocks to those methods, all you are doing is shifting the problem to the next poor sod owner!!!
Do it PROPERLY or send it to me and I will. :-)

I got these three used cranks in the lucky dip as well, do they have any value? The parts like the pins, taper and webs might be reuseable, but are they of any value - worth keeping, selling, passing on?

Just don't chuck 'em away, it's surprising what can be reclaimed.
Maybe, try not to think of the dollar 'value' think of the use these parts might give someone in the future.
Everything boiled down to dollars is what's killing the World!

Yeah, jools is right - you'll never know, 'til you pull 'em apart.. the pistons don't look too awful..
You've gotta wonder why they were left out to rust like that though.. some people..

Depends what the "crap" is..
If its just the natural metal gone rusty, or if has it got a liner coat..
