What tyres are available in Australia to suit the RZ500?

Sizes are 120/80-16 (front) and 130/80-18 (rear).

Whats the best place in Sydney buy tyres?

Cheers, Markus.

Hi Markus,
Did you end up getting some tyres? If not try the Pirelli Sport Demons.
Try Craig at Flywheels in Alexandria, I hear he loves his two strokes.

Oh man... are you back at work?

I did get the Pirelli Demons from MCAS. I paid for them last week and will have them fitted on Thursday night. The tyres on the RG are still very good (brand new Bridgestone on the front and something new looking on the back, though not Bridgestone I think). Might get the matching Bridgestone rear at some point.

I'll ask you first in the future.

I'm no fan of MCAS as they've let me down once in a very petty way not long after spent a several thousand dollars with them. Unfortunately they are usually the cheapest and they're not too far from where I live (Greystanes near Parramatta).

I've got pretty much all the missing or replacement bits for the RG and RZ ordered and paid for now.

Can't wait to get the RG going :-D its really close to ready. Just gotta do a regular service on it and keep my fingers crossed the engine is healthy. I do have a fresh spare engine in case of problems... though I don't think changing that would be much fun.

Cheers, Markus.

Ive got Pirelli on my Lc wouldnt get them again terrible in the wet.

Bridgestones=slipstones

Im going for Lasertech's Metzelers on the Lc next time which will done by the time of the stinky day.
Ive got Mitchelins on the GSXR they are tops in all conditions.

If you want exceptional dry performance and handling with OK wet grip- Pirelli Sport Demons.

If you want exceptional wet performance and grip with good dry performance- Bridgestone BT45's.

If you want good dry performance and good wet grip- Metzeler Lasertec's.

As for late model sports bikes, the only choice for outright road legal performance is Pirelli Supercorsa's. They even grip well on lightly wet roads, but not in heavy rain.

Please note: This is my opinion based on many years of riding with all tyre brands on many different machines.

Seems that Metzeler are the best all round performer based on your post?.

I was referred to these as a good late bike performance tyre seems they have most earlier bike sizes covered.

Then again tyres are up to the individual.

My experience in the wet with Pirelli even stopped me taking the Lc out on slightly damp conditions..........................

Do Metzeler still make the right size for the RG500 and RZ500?

Its very unlikely I'll ever ride in the wet so the Pirelli's are probably a good option for me.

Cheers, Markus.

They still make them for Lc which is earlier than Rg so one would suggest that they do them for Rg.

The standard RG500 tyre sizes are:
Front- 110/90 16
Rear- 120/90 17

The Lasertec's are available if you substitute the rear for 130/80 17.

Correct sizes are available for RZ500.
