l had the chance to buy this bike about 7 or so years ago...
The guy who owned it also had a NOS XT 500, Air Colled RD, IT something & a few others, (all unridden)
l cant quite remember all the others,

The RD is what it is & still looks the same as it did when l had a look at it,
l expect it to get to about $15000,
But l could be way wrong.... :D

had another close look, i wouldnt be able to stand the dust on it, needs some armour oil, or would the be considered a no no to the purist? if its not to much to ask mr evil, what was the original owner asking back then?

I reckon about $5000 sounds right to be. If it gets anywhere near $15,000 I'll stand being rooted in George Street :P .

But in the right market you are probably right. There are some 'anals' out there who would pay it. I know NOS has a certain appeal to some.

No worries mate,
The original owner wanted $10,000 for it...
l think from memory that he wanted $10000 for each bike he had there...

thanks mr evil, to my way of thinking 10 big ones sounds about right to me ,but thats now ,not 7 years ago, i will be watching this with real interest as im restoring one at the moment and its nearly done,i dont have anymore to spend on it and to the best of my reckoning it will cost around 8 grand all up, close to a grand of that would be postage costs though seeing nearly everything was sourced from O/S, im not saying or hinting mine would sell for anything near what ive spent on it but i think mine would look newer than that one.

Hey Steve, good to see you posting here m8 Ive missed you in the other place :(

10k would be about right, maybe a bit light compared to the recent uk sales of similar bikes.

As for the "Other Place",
To many double standards between some forum members & the Mods...
Thanks for the kind words mate, its almost done now (tho some question if it will ever be finished LOL!). Ive just some tinkering with the timing and a few other things and it will be on the road. Its all very exciting :)

Yeah, but don't forget that the RD series was massive in the UK, and the market's got overheated over there IMHO. Pricing a lot of people out by the bidding frenzies.
Also some of the mags over here speculating on what "this or that will be worth..." are in danger of doing the same thing. They print some pretty bloody random numbers on occasion. They'll all go up in price if they were any good in the day, but let's not add to the madness and just line the pockets of the speculators! Here endeth the Sermon

Well it just went over $10k with 27 bids, so it might well test the 15K
