The good:

1. Castrol Active is a mineral based self mixing oil which makes itideal for oil injection systems. however this doesn't mean its good for your motor.

2. Its cheap

The bad:

Im of the opinion that if it was great, it definitely wouldn't be $13 a liter.
If they can sell it for $13 a liter, it makes you wonder what the oil's 'base stocks' are made from (which are kept a secret so you never know).
Im not saying its terrible oil, but if it was the best stuff you could buy it wouldnt be 13 bucks!

Suggestions
If you want to run that cheap oil, Id be putting 100:1 of castor in your tank for added protection.

what sort of riding do you do and what Km's?

just consider the costs

-cheap oil = 13 bucks
- one seizure costs with a twin $500-800
- faster wearing bottom end will cost you $500 sooner than it should have

good oil = $30-40 a liter for a premium castor synthetic blend
less chance of the expensive seizure
bottom end will last for longer too
even your bore wont get those vertical score marks all over it with a good oil!

dont skimp on oil as its the lifeblood of the two stroke engine, thats my opinion on it anyway!

all good points, the 1st oil i got was the dearest fully synthetic castor stuff i could get, the shop owner said how good it was, but when i checked on the manufactures web site it said it wasnt recommended for everyday road going bikes as it would foul up the plugs and was better suited to pre-mixing in racing machines reving up near 14000 rpm plus it wasnt suitable for the auto lube.. i see that castrol also make a premium version of 2T oil around 32 a litre, i will look into it, thanks again jeram you are making sense as price was the motivator and i thought by not getting the 9.99 valvolene i was on a good thing,

That sort of oil is meant for lawnmowers and the like.

well i have admit you have me curious? why is the oil only good for mowers? surely modern 2 stroke oil would have to be better than oil 30 years ago, have you used it in the past and been disapointed? ken

I think that the cheap oil of today would be no better than the best oil of 30 years ago. They would not have the best additives and would have less of the additives that they do have or they would cost the same or close to it not 1/3 of the price of todays best oils.
I wouldn't use $9.99 per ltr oil in my bikes. I also wouldn't use no brand oil in my cars. Cheap oil is false economy.

In my race bike I use Elf synthetic.

I dont have a 2 stroke with oil injection going at the moment but when I do I will use Elf synthetic that is designed for injection systems.

Neither is cheap but are some of the best you can get. Any of the good brand full synthetic would be suitable.

decent brands are motul 800 which IMO is the most commonly used oil, most likely due to its quality and availability off the shelf in bike stores.

The best oils include elf as South_Aus suggested and AGIP (both sythetic and castor/synth blends)

for putting around town I dont see why you couldnt use a very high quality synthetic oil.
but if your going to be doing fast riding you cant beat a castor/synth blend for protection as it has all the benefits of a synth (lower smoke, less gum build up) and of the castor (superior high temp protection where synthetics burn away leaving your top end without any oil).

thanks fellas, ive been giving this a lot of thought and your right, i will get a better oil, lower smoke, ive got my oil pump set to deliver a bit extra oil so the low smoke synthetic sound good, i was thinking motul 710 2T but will do a bit more homework, cheers ken ps i wont be thrashing it and really only for a bit of posing i guess, if i get it registered.

Motul is as good as any. You cant go wrong with it. Elf is harder to get, I get mine from a kart shop.
