.......for a NOS replacement replica. And Nearly $500

- unpainted

.
I've also heard that, be it the seller or the postal service, it can be a bit dodgy dealing with India.

Well, at least it's a new option... As opposed to:
Second hand rusty shite off ebay.
Second hand expensive stuff from Japan and god knows where.
Brand spanking new fibreglass shite I wouldn't touch with a barge pole!

I agree Duncan, this is a better option than people seem to think... no one has yet bought one but every man and his dog on the forums has bashed them as 'crap'.
Ive seen a guy on a uk forum has ordered one, and Ive got a forumer in India to place a call to the guy, we'll see how those plans pan out.

To be honest, Jon... I sent them a tank to use as a pattern, and in exchange they are sending me a 'new' tank. What did I have to lose... They have pretty good feedback on their stuff, and I need a tank. When it arrives I'll give you the lowdown on how it is.
My tank was worse than useless, and a repair job would have cost way more than the cost of postage. We'll see if the gamble paid off!

PS. If the guy on the pommy forum was on RDLCCRAZY... It was me!

Ahh, it now becomes clear and I reckon you are a star for taking a gamble on sending it, good on ya.
Let us know what you think when it lands

I didn't have too much to lose, Jon... Other than a cullender tank, and $100 or so in postage.
So what if it needs a little bit of work! Better than patching up some old shite and putting a grands worth of paint over the top to find it leaking a few months down the track, I reckon.
Soon as it arrives, I'll see how it fits and let you know how it is.
Fingers crossed, eh!

Nice sentiments and I hope the seller is successful, the resto market appreciates and needs the effort.
But if that's his show piece I would be very skeptical that its a cost effective advantage over the first three choices. I'm only going off a photo but that workmanship looks particularly poor. I hope I'm wrong, I'm looking for an LC tank.

If your going fast nobody notices a bad paint job

Looking forward to some info on this new tank business. I take it these are hand beaten or something by traditional panel beatery type people?
Fibreglass tanks. Apart from probably not being so great in a crash, can't the fibreglass tanks be lined in the same way you'd line a metal tank? To prevent the fibreglass being degraded by the fuel. I imagine that's half the battle.

you put a bladder inside the fibberglass tank this does two things
1. protects the tank from being attacked by fuel
2. stops the ruptured fiberglass tank from dumping the fuel when crashed... add this to a spark from the bike grinding along the asphalt... and KABOOOM
