Ignition Coil options for RZ250K ?

Post by jools »

Just wondering what recommendations there are as to the best value ignition coil for our '83 RZ250. (It's giving suss readings on the windings and is not starting, looks like a pretty weak spark).
There are plenty on Yambits site but not for this specific model, I assume one for a different model would be okay just that we'd we'd need to change mounting and plugging ? And I assume the 250 and 350 coils would be the same.
Don't really want to pay big bucks for one of the high performance aftermarket coils.

banshee, but dynatek is best really... I believe LC and RZ are all the same, and yes 250 and 350 are the same - have a look at the code, I bet its a 4L0 part number.

I probably have some used ones if you want one for sensible money?

Agree - best way to check part interchangeability (is that a word) is the parts book. I have a RZ and RD 250 and 350 book to cross reference - makes it a hell of a lot easier. Then go to partzilla type in the number and see what other bikes the part cross matches too (eg FJ600). You need to avoid RZ searches as the parts often seem to carry a premium if attached to this model..........
Apologies for the rant

Most yam twin cylinder coils from that era should work fine.

Ive got a 1988 yamaha TZR250 coil collecting dust somewhere, you can have it for a 6 pack of beer if you want to try it.
the following 4T propaganda was brought to you by your local 2T lobby group...

"whats that youve got there?... a 450? "
yeah...
"what cereal packet did that come out of? "
huh?...
"I just wanted to know, because theres nothing worse than finding a piece of shit in the bottom of your corn flakes. "

Kind of a shame to lose all that knowledge, experience and place to go to buy shiny stuff for 2T's - despite the RS500 bullsh*t.

Good luck with finding a coil..

Why 2 coil kit Jase? I have the economy cycle kit on my LC and it will go on my next build. nice kit that fits the early RZ, I know as I tested it for him.
