"£400-450'ish (including new proper Mitaka 66mm piston kits and reprofiled 250cc head work)"

"It would be neat if you could get them working off the orig 4L1 carbs."

"my mate has one with swarbricks on ........,its pretty quick and has a good bit of torque as well a good bit more than the std 350 does"

Interesting - but at a $1000aus I'm pleased I have a threefiddy

It doesn't compare them with a 350 barrel but they appear to be effectively ported oversized 350 barrels.

Looks good to me , Just wondering if anyone in oz could or do this ? Could be another option with the rd250lc iam about to restore . Instead of the big bore kit . Great for a sleeper , especially if you leave the 250 plaques on the outside , Greg

Not convinced... still has small-ish transfers and re-sleeves often have overheating issues.
I guess it's cheaper than going the athena route and you can keep the LC bottom end, but I bet it would cost a fortune to do that out here.

Depends on how you build your Athena.. kits for standard cranks (392cc) are 700ish, a used RZ bottom end would be sub 300. You would still need intakes, carbs and pipes no matter which you went... So... IMHO you could go Athena cheaper, plus you would have more power... Of course, you can go bigger, thrown money at better ignition etc etc etc... and get 100bhp+....but it wont cost 1k LOL
