Flywheel size

Post by FNQGreg »

G'day All
This probably sounds like a silly question BUT can anybody tell me if all flywheels are the same internal diam.
I pinched the flywheel off my 87 rz250r to put on my LC, the rz was running ok at the time, I then bought a S/H
flywheel for the rz but now have no spark, been diagnosing the prob with all the usual step by step routine then
I thought I wonder..no surely not..Yam would not have made them in different I.D.
using after market Gen on the LC so only pinched the flywheel.

Cheers

No, sadly you cant just swap parts like that on RZs there are 3 types and they have to be a match to the stator, which also has to be a match to the CDI... some combinations work, some dont. Have a google, but one version of the info is on norbos sales site.

Thanks JonW
Will check out Norbo's info but I think I know what the answer is.... Swap flywheels
The stator on the LC is a charge only unit from TSS with a programmable CDI
So it matters not which flywheel, then put the OEM one back on the rz, the hard part is Elsie is my best girlfriend and usually gets the most TLC hope she doesn't get upset when I take it off
