I went to the 2014 Australian Historic road racing championship on the weekend. I hoped to see a tz750 in the flesh. Not 1 but 5 tz750's where there plus more then 10 Tz350's numerous Tz250's and even Ta125's. There performance on the track was something to see, I watched a 750 smoke some 1100cc 4 strokes down the straight. Amazing weekend, unfortunatley marred by the death of steve Anderson whilst racing on the sunday. My sympothy to the familly and the historic road racing fraturnity. Some photo's
some more pitures. Td2 Tz250
My favourite bike there. Carl Zegers TZ560. Tz350 engine with extra cylinder grafted inline on the engine making it a triple. He made 30 of these bikes back in the day. Also made my rz350 chambers and ported cylinders. Spoke to the rider said it lacked the power of the 750 but made up for it with its handling.
under the hood of a tz750
I took my kids (5 and 6) for a look saturday morning. I actually online live a few Km from the track but have only recently moved to Brisbane and had never attended.
So impressed by the amount of access to the pits and the bikes and how close you could get to the track. Was a real fantastic experience. And with a HUGE love for old school 2 strokes I was not disappointed with the turn out. How awesome they sound on a real track! Kids loved the sidecars, quite enjoyed the 750 2 stroke orange one getting around. I'll definitely be heading back if they have bikes again. I have some video, only from on my phone but I'm not keen on sharing it until I can find out what bike Steve was riding if case he is in the footage. Thanks for sharing the pics. I see Ian Munro in one of those pics in front of the garages. I used to visit him at his workshop in north brisbane until the building was purchased. Anyone have any contact info for him? I looked everywhere for him on Sat but bit hard with the kids in tow.
