Greetings...
Greetings...
A big hello to my fellow lovers of all things two stroke...
I'm in Western Sydney and recently joined the World of vintage Japanese bike ownership with the purchase of an RD 250.
Saw it on the bay of 'é' and made an offer which was accepted.
It was advertised as a 350, but after checking it appears it is a 250.
I've previously owned a Kawasaki 250 triple and an RGV, both I wish I'd kept!
I'm sure you know what I mean.
Will upload pics when I get the time, so for now I'm trying to find out a little history about the RD. It's totally original with just over 15000 miles on the clock.
My plan is to keep it as original as possible, and I'll keep you all posted.
Cheers Anthony.

Re: Greetings...
Another forum member has informed me it's a 75, as the frame number starts with 352. It's a matching numbers bike, but so far all I've been able to determine is that it isn't stolen and that it's not been registered in NSW or the ACT.
Original as in has the same handgrips it left the factory with. Tyres hold air but I'm sure they're my age...that's almost 45 in case anyone is wondering. I'm hoping to just lay some clear over the top, preserve that faded original paint. Run a POR15 kit through the tank, clean carbs, servic brakes and fuel lines, etc. let the games begin!

Re: Greetings...
Images of my RD take 2...

You will notice the 350 side covers, but engine and frame numbers mean it's a 250.
Looking forward to hearing what you think of my RD, cheers A.

Re: Greetings...
Hi Jon, when you say AC do you mean it's an RD250AC? that designates the year?
Seller seemed like a nice bloke, just couldn't offer much info / detail.
cheers A.

Re: Greetings...
Very OEM original
right down to the Baby Shit Brown colour, albeit faded
.
The choice;
1/keep it OEM with petina but mechanically schmick, maybe a few period sensitive mods - Kool with fun
.
2/ OEM resto - expensive but kool.
3/ sell it to someone who will do one or either of the above

Re: Greetings...
As much as I love the 'baby shit brown concept' it's actually a metallic gold, the bsb is from sun damage. My plan is to keep it as original as possible, just lay some clear over the paint, etc.
Thanks for your feedback...cheers A.

Re: Greetings...
I meant AC as in Air Cooled, us LC folk tend not to realise thats also a model LOL
Wow look at that paint... I'll wager now that you wont keep it like that, after working yer tail off making it run right you will want it looking nicer.

Re: Greetings...
Cool, I've learnt something today...I'll take that wager big maaaan, clear over top of what you see. It's only original once and I figure a clear coat is preserving that. Cheers A.
