This may sound like a bit of a dumb question but how many selector forks should I have in a 74 RD350 gearbox. My Haynes manual says 3 (2 rear of the selector barrel, 1 forward) but the engine had 4 when I pulled it apart and seems to only go back together and make any sense with 4

Re: RD350 selector forks
We're there different models that were built differently?

Re: RD350 selector forks
I remember reading somewhere recently that the earlier 5 speeds had 3 selector forks and the later 6 speeds have 4.
Perhaps that ?Haynes manual was written for the R5 and Ds7 series bikes and then updated (mostly) for the RD. There are a few manuals available on line and plenty of parts schematics to. Try Partzilla or CMSNL.

Re: RD350 selector forks
Cool thanks, I figure it has to be something like that. It all seems to go back together properly with the 4 forks and it's the only way it all fits

Re: RD350 selector forks
Maybe Yamaha forked up
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.
