Well folks you wanted some nostalgia, so here it comes....don't laugh too much... :oops:

The year, 1964, I was 15 and here I am pleased as punch with myself with my first racing vehicle....and of course it was a two stroke..... A Villiers 197cc 6E engine that was made circa 1952-1955

It would have produced about 10bhp on an exceptional day.....

Check out the hi-tech exhaust system, held on with a hose clamp and finishing up rather too close to the fuel tank, which spewed petrol froth out copiously.... did I mention fire?......yes it did on a couple of occasions, but as we raced on dirt in those days a few handfuls of the track surface soon had all that nonsense under control.

I made the chassis myself, taught myself to arc weld making it and it weighed rather too much, so you can see where I compensated for that by drilling holes in the engine mount.....

I think Mom bought me a pair of white overalls.....the latest hi-tech ones, and she sewed a green ribbon down the arm to finish the effect..... So in my pair of Gentleman's brown leather gloves I am ready to attempt to finish a race.

The position of the open exhaust probably has something to do with my rather poor high frequency hearing these days.....

The motor was developed over the next couple of years and at the end of the development cycle probably produced 3 or 4 bhp less.....

i started building this at the age of 14 as i loved working in the shed and always loved off road racing, its an edge sidewinder with a rz350 that i picked up for a carton of beer strapped into it.. the bloke i got the plans off said he had one with a rz250 in it and it bloody flew and that i should be careful as it will be over powered..

well i got carried away thinking it wouldnt be enough power and brought pro curcuit pipes, zeeltronics, billet head, vf3, and a 2 into 1 carb kit for it.. what did i know i as 14 and the only 2 stroke i had rode was a old glutless 125...

hmmm lets just say it scares the shit out of me lol.. with 12 inch tyres on the back and a little gearing it spins top gear from idle to 9500 rpm on the bitumen for as long as you like haha

so i had to buy the road going one lol but of course i had to modify it so this is it

its been on the back burner for a bit now but the plans are to have lozza tickle it etc

also now have been asked to ride from cairns to cape york so am looking for a enduro 2 stroke i can register

I still rue the day I threw out my first pipe I built.
When I heard so called 'tuners' charge $200 for a pipe, I thought "Can't be that hard can it"
Drove myself batty with formulas then decided if it looked like a chamber it must work like one.
Welding it up with a MIG blew holes in it everywhere, had weld spots as large as 50 cent pieces filling them in.
I proudly looked at it admiring it's flowing lines, the dream shattered when I went to put it on the bike. A ciggie paper just fitted between the belly and the ground. What to do, I levered it into position with a long bar and amazingly it (and the cylinder studs stayed put. My smile returned when I started it and what a sound.
At the track it was another story it had a 300rpm powrband and you could barely hear it.
Someone asked me if I made the chamber and they said "yeah it looks like it too"

Looks like a early wet clutch Rotax 125(124 series???) a 256 engine went for 600GBP on ebay it's going to Holland in a Bakker frame fortunately.
