Hi boys...

Post by jools »

Little intro from me, Jools. :D
I've rescued an '83 RZ 250 which is complete and original apart from a few nuts and bolts, so it'll be a good candidate for refurbishment. I don't envisage a complete restoration because it's not that bad, just needs a really good fettling, a major cleanup, and fine-tuning. She's a first-kick starter.
I've owned / restored / built plenty of bikes in the past and am looking forward to getting this thing schmick!
I had an '85 RZ 350 about 15 years ago and loved it. I could get around the Island quicker on the RZ than on my GSXR750 (But that possibly says more about my lack of riding ability than anything else!)
Looking forward to researching all the details and getting to know you lads.

Cheers Ken, thanks for the welcome. I'm complying, with a pic of the bike 'as found'. I have all the fairings, sidecovers etc, but I'll need to be doing fibreglass repairs along with a nice new paint job (but not that red and black colour scheme) once I've fettled it mechanically.

Thanks Jon. Yeah, not bad at all, cost $500. She'll be a creamer... eventually.
It's had a light RHS drop, only damage is front brake lever which I'll need to get, and the oil pump plastic cover which I've repaired, but I'll look for a better one. Fairings I can fix, paint I can do. PO was fan of matte black spraypak paint so there's plenty of stripping to do there!
I'm in Greendale Vic, (Wombat Forest) an hour west of Melbourne.
