Another One On Evilpay.
Re: Another One On Evilpay.
lol, i just read the Q and A thing in the listing, i imagine selling a bike would attract all sorts, fancy someone telling you to take whatever you can get for it, bit of a dill id say. i like to see them get these prices, it makes me feel like i will get my money back later on down the track, maybe
Re: Another One On Evilpay.
Passed in at $8100.
Probably not enough for as Women's Weekly cruise

Re: Another One On Evilpay.
This is going to be an interesting comparison. I reckon with the mods its a $4000+ bike. But it lacks bling and NOS patina and charisma and doesn't present well (A tubs and a little armourall would have gone a long way
)

"Good Bits: Matching engine number and frame (Rare)
Stan Stevens Ported Barrels (imported from the UK)
Rear Sets
RD125 rear shock (its longer than the 250 which sharpens the steering)
Rick Roberts modified chambers
Zealtronics Programable CDI.... at a guess this one thing has improved the power by 20%
Ace Bars
Mechanically fantastic
race pistons and rings
carbon fibre reed valves
Lots of original spares.... 2 x exhaust, repair manual, handle bars and mirrors etc. check picture."
If its been worked on by Campbelltown Motorcycles it should be a Good Thing. These guys are into PCRC and Shannon is a good No Bullshit diligent mechanic who spins the tools as good as he rides
.
Its going to be interesting to watch.

Re: Another One On Evilpay.
It would have been interesting to watch, but it's been pulled off evilbay
You say it doesn't present well, which goes to show how photos are deceptive, as it looks very nice in the pics.
I like the "concept" (hate that word in this context), a regular standard looking LC, only a 250, but set up properly with the things you don't really see. Not so much a sleeper as an optimised 250.

Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.
Re: Another One On Evilpay.
The other 350 is back on offer at a starting price of $9,500. Reckon you could still collect a quite passable RZ500 at that price if you hunted carefully.
$9,500. Wishful thinking or market madness? Wonder what it's really worth, notwithstanding the odd heavily cashed up collector.
Some signs of the high UK classic market wobbling as the recession there sinks its teeth in.

A: Mate .Got offered $8500 after auction last time and knocked it back.. ..save up your sheltered workshop money and live the dream..Ta Rob"

Ya can't blame the seller for trying. If it's 'over the market' or not I can't judge. It looks pretty good to me and must be worth half of that NOS thingie a few weeks ago.

took one look at his other items and realized that he's a rip off merchant.

the following 4T propaganda was brought to you by your local 2T lobby group...
"whats that youve got there?... a 450? "
yeah...
"what cereal packet did that come out of? "
huh?...
"I just wanted to know, because theres nothing worse than finding a piece of shit in the bottom of your corn flakes. "

I guess it's what OzzyElsie says, if someone's willing to cough up the asking then he's succeeded, only needs one mug.
Joking aside, how much would it cost to get a half decent one and restore it? A very dependant question I know.
"Original patina" and that sort of comment gets used a lot in adverts these days, bugger that, I'd rather have fresh paint!
We're talking motorcycles, not antique furniture.

Re: Another One On Evilpay.
Amusing 2nd question too...
Q: Hi Mate, I am happy to offer $6000 if it is immaculate. It is after all only an LC 350. Not really collectable - yet. You may have the next 10yrs of blue sky factored into the price
Cheers 01-Aug-12
A: Mate You really have me over a barrel..little Timmy needs an operation ,the missus has run off to Patagonia with the postman and the bank has sent a foreclosure notice on the 2 bedroom unit I share with the Patels from Mumbai...Get in touch with me as soon as possible so we can work out how much you can afford out of your MIND !!! Kindest ,Warmest Regards Rob

I have advertised a few bikes and ebay and I have had a million questions. However I always answer them respectfully as you never know who is cashed up and who is the tyre kicker..

Re: Another One On Evilpay.
Maybe EvilPay is not a good bases for establishing value
.

I was a little interested in this beast and had the opportunity to drop in and have a look. In my opinion it was a $1000-1500 bike. The engine seems fine, but everything else is absolute 'tarted up' crap. Silver frost on every thing alloy. The spokes look good in the pixies but are silver frosted, as is the inside of the hubs. Tank and bodywork is rattle can painted (badly) and ditto engine covers. Front guard and pipes dinged. All chrome dull. If some one bought it based on the pixies I think they will be disappointed. I expect it will be relisted
.
I don't think the owner is dodgy. Probably more 'philosophical' with a 'buyer beware' attitude.

Re: Another One On Evilpay.
I disagree with you there, that bike was worth the money even in the ordinary condition it was in. DS5s are thin on the ground and the last one which was an unknown went for nearly that, at least you could ride this away. You could wreck that bike and nearly break even.
Re: Another One On Evilpay.
We'll have to agree to disagree. I defy you to break up that bike and get $1000 for the bits. It's most redeeming factor was that it was together, running and a good starting point for a resto.EPApolice wrote:I disagree with you there, that bike was worth the money even in the ordinary condition it was in. Getting that bike to an 8-10 point NOS concourse is a $5000+ job. The same result could be achieved starting with a bare frame and buying all the bits

Re: Another One On Evilpay.
It agree it would be an expensive resto and I know I just did this DS3 so know exactlly what the bits required cost. The point I'm making is you cant get a bike as a starting point these days for the money your suggesting. I wish you could. You are correct that $5000 would need to be spent and probally more to get it mint. Have a look on ebay at parts and you will see what the cost is plus the postage as you wont get them here.
Having said all that I was keen but even $3000 was more than I would pay personally.
