Powervalve servo jittering

Post by jools »

My PV servo self-tests properly when ign is turned on, I have replaced the cables and adjusted with correct free-play, and the valve itself turns freely - no 'binding'.
But the servo motor 'jitters' (with the motor not running) ... no actual movement of the output, but it's like a vibration/buzzing noise. Is this normal? Is the unit servicable? I've seen similar jittering with RC servos which can be down to dirty pots (wipers?) inside.
Cheers,
Jools

My RZ500 did that when I got I and even though the cables were free and not binding I reset them anyway and the problem went away.

Mate, thanks for your quick response. I'll run it and keep an eye on it. The bike has sat for quite a few years so it's quite likely that a bit of use might 'clean up' the servo motor.

Ah that's interesting Peet, my battery is pretty tired, won't hold a charge for very long, -a new battery may help -good tip.
