Any interest in a dyno day

Post by EPApolice »

A mate of mine will be able to organise a dyno day if anyone is interested. He suggested this over on the VJMC forum but only a couple of us were interested as its not really their thing.
The dyno is in Ingleburn NSW and they they know how to dyno a stroker. We would need firm numbers before going ahead as they would have to open up on a Saturday just for us. You will only get a HP figure read out as they will not put the sensors on the bike. It seems two strokers destroy the sensors, they last about 4 hrs in a two stroke and over 100 in a four stroke. So its plug chops only. More of a casual day with bragging rights.
Might be good to see what all these big bore RZs are putting out.

I would love to put the 500 on a dyno, but no way would I risk it without a sensor.

If you bring your own sensors they will use them but they cost $150 each and you need two really but can get away with one.

If it was in victoria I would be definitely up for it :)

by the way Iv got a AF ratio guage for two strokes including a special bung which protects the sensor from oil (for turbo deisels and very hot running turbo NOS cars). I might part with it for a reasonable offer.

bosch wideband guage,
computer unit inclding computer upload cable and datalogger cable,
specially machined sensor protector,
and an AF ratio digital guage.

just needs pluging into 12V DC and it will run :)
the following 4T propaganda was brought to you by your local 2T lobby group...

yeah...
"what cereal packet did that come out of? "
huh?...

Its just a casual gig with a BBQ and I think most bikes will be dogs anyway. The plan is for the new year now but like I said if we cant get at least 10 or more it wont happen.

Between the two of us, I think we could make it happen with enough planning.

I can do much better, I can get a dyno room for a whole day for beer money, disadvantage is it's in Newcastle. Use a Bosch AFR sensor which is $60, but you dont really need itand the info isn't that accurate or useful. Anyone who has a Zeel/Ignitech I could set that up for you. Best part is that this dyno gives a realistic figure, countless times big numbers have been slashed when it goes on there.
If you just want a dyno figure, will take longer to load the bike on than to do the runs. As your 'cold case' figure will be the best, first or second run. Continualy doing runs for 30 mins unless your making a change only wears the bike.
If people had pipes to try would be better bike was rotated and pipes installed and re ran later.
Dynos are not hard on bikes, and no use being gentle with them, a average pull takes 5 seconds.

I have wideband sensors, so that's not an issue.
Might be a better option to do mine after you make new pipes for both my bikes Lozza ;)
