Well I have been provoided a tank which is not in great shape by another member. We may be able to send that to the Indian chappy and negotiate a deal on his sample. if its anywhere near acceptable, we could provide him with a consolidated business proposition. I know of at least thee guys needing tanks here in Sydney to start with.

Well you heard wrong. Unless your daily driver is a Model T Ford the instance of unburnt fuel in a modern cars exhaust gas will be very very minute.
Major component of exhaust gas is Nitrogen 71% Co2 14% H2O 12% CO 1-2% Hydrocarbons <0.25%
Nitrogen being a inert gas is perfect for shielding gas, sheilding gas has to be free of O2 which car exhaust has none of.

So, is that idle, acceleration , lean cruise, badly jetted, well jetted, running sweet, decel or running rich like a pig for those percentages?

I think the point that was made to me, which I posted above, is that there is a potential for this to be a problem.

Modern cars have EFI perfect tune no matter what the throttle position is doing.Modern car is tuned to make the most torrque and use the least fuel at 80-100kmph.

Your link is only proof of peoples stupidity. The fellow was burnt which meant he did not have proper PPE(head to toe in leather) not from any explosions. I also find it extremely hard to believe a element in a inert gas of less than a 1/4 of 1% that is constantly moving responsible for build up of fumes/O2 which is what causes explosions.
It reminds me of the fuel line that runs from the refineries in Sydney to Newcastle, about a 12inch cast iron pipe. A farmer hit it with a post hole borer and took a big chip out of it. Some Red Adair style bloke arrived and when he made a plate to weld to it, everyone asked what about the petrol inside. He just said turn the pumps on FLAT OUT. He said the large volume of fuel moving very rapidly would never heat up, if you turned it off and let vapour in there it would cause an all mighty explosion.

He's keen to get his hands on a tank to use as a pattern, and would do a deal on the sample. I someone has a tank to send, they get the cheap deal on the sample! If it's good, he'd be snowed under! lol

Ohh, righto, so I can do it with my 2007 Ranger diesel, but not any of my petrol cars with sidedraught SUs or downdraught Webbers.

My point being that it is difficult to make a blanket statement about this never possibly being able to happen. In the old truism, "when you make something idiot proof, the world comes along and builds a better idiot" rings true.

I have every intention of cutting open my spare tank and it will probably be with a plasma cutter. But I am going to be prepared for many eventualities and will probably be difficult to purge with anything if I do use the plasma.

I also have an issue with the Red Adair story because if the pipe is full of fuel, there will be no air to ignite with the vapour unless matey burns through the pipe, so pumps or no pumps, I would imagine it would make bugger all difference.

So back to the tank....what kind of a deal can we do with the Indian!!!! I doubt that he will pay for me to send him a sample. and I doubt that I will pay to send him the sample (my tank) and have to pay to get my tank back. Add to that the cost of his tank and freight.

So where to next????
