shocking ebay prices?

Post by JonW »

no this is not another whinge that some idiot is asking $xxxx for a small NOS part of an LC or something... Im actually wondering why some people pay so much for stuff that is sure to be bad news when you get into it. Sure it could have been bid up by the seller and his mates, but c'mon...

So, explain this to me:

Knackerd cases, left outside, wrong pipes and clocks for most people and... caned within an inch of its life... but hey it is a 350! LOL

Makes me feel better about buying a whole bike, albeit rough with a couple of fucked parts, for a grand! LOL
It must be a special motor though, because it's a 2 strock AND it had 60+ horses stock standard. My fucker is less than 50!!

Look guys, don't you understand these things can be tuned for over 100bhp? He says so in his ad!

Joking aside and being analytical, what are the most difficult-to-source parts worth? To me that kind of motor represents maybe a set of barrels that might be salvagable, but you'd have to be willing to gamble on such things as the bore size, what demented home tuning may have been done, corrosion etc etc.
IF a "decent" running bike can expect to need an engine rebuild feck knows what a boat anchor like this will have suffered. All the classics are there, plenty of chain damage, corrosion, been abused in a dirt cart etc.

Just bought a complete RZ250 for $1000, scruffy but started first kick, runs OK. Will slowly collect the hop-up parts I need/want, but not stuff like that at panic sale prices.

Agree with you guys, let's be sensible about the prices, let the crazy "herd" mentality people blow big bucks on ebay from the office when they should be working....

Hope the buyer got something out of it!
