tank repairers
HI guys
just got my RD's tank back from a perported restorer in QLD and he has absolutely hacked it to pieces.
Apart from other issues he has cut a hole in the underside to remove the lining before dipping and rather than weld the cutout back in he has decided a filthy great 8*10 plate slapped over the hole is a far more professional, appealing and original fixture. So now Im chasing a good quality tank repairer/panel beater who can assess whether its worth fixing this disaster or if its cheaper to just get them to start from scratch on another tank. Id also need them to do a good paint job on it and all the plastics after repair.
Finally as Im in the NT it will nned to be delivered so anywhere in aust is good for me postage is the same no matter where it goes.
thanks

Re: tank repairers
I called them and they were great but they said they were going to need an order of 10 before their builder will take on the work .They reckon all up landed on the doorstep they are going to cost $500 which they think is a bit prohibitive and people may baulk at that price so they dont want to be stuck with tanks they cant move. I personally think that plenty people will be willing to pay that for a new tank and if they pull it off Ive got my name down for number 1 when it arrives

(see towards bottom for pixie).
I emailed Hyside in Dec for price and availability of a fibreglass replacement - no reply, yet
.
I might chase it through.

Re: tank repairers
$500 for a brand new steel tank is a bargin! you would pay twice that for a carbon or fiberglass one.
Or you could make own your carbon one it's not as hard as it looks........

Re: tank repairers
Think from memory Hyside does them for $650.

Re: tank repairers

$650 for the fibreglass would make this aluminum tank cheap -325GBP or $560aus.
Wow, you wouldn't even paint it

Re: tank repairers
Ant- The one in the link looks like a Poly tank similar to the Aprilia RS, are you sure they are Glass? Either way anything under $1000 AUD for a long time discontinued tank is good.Antman wrote:Think from memory Hyside does them for $650.
