Re: MC21 no spark on one cylinder
I've been thinking more on this topic. If, as you say, it only takes one lobe to trigger both plugs in turn, and mine only has one plug firing, I'm leaning on the UCU (pgm as you call it) being cooked. I'll try and get another one just to check it.
Thanks to you all for your advice and comments, I'll let you know the outcome, until then, end of topic from me.

best of luck trying to find one, they're not the easiest things to track down and expensive too.
If your insistant on keeping the stock ECU, give this guy a bell, he fixes honda PGM ecu units
http://www.twostrokeracelab.com/
might work out cheaper for you.

the following 4T propaganda was brought to you by your local 2T lobby group...
"whats that youve got there?... a 450? "
yeah...
"what cereal packet did that come out of? "
huh?...

Re: MC21 no spark on one cylinder
On the stock set up , it will need all 4 lobes to send signals to the pgm . There could be a problem with the pgm sending the signal to the spark plug .
Give me a shout if you need a pgm3 , my mate may have a spare one and I could pass on his details to you .

Re: MC21 no spark on one cylinder
Thanks for this info and apologies for not checking replies. I intend testing signals to and from the pgm3 to rule out the pulse generators and wiring. As I've already checked the pulse gens for specs and wiring for continuity to and from the pgm3 to the coils (and tried swapping coils without success), I'm thinking it's in the pgm3. I certainly don't hold with some suggestions of grinding off lobes, makes no sense, if only one is needed to fire both plugs why isn't it doing so now?neal wrote:On the stock set up , it will need all 4 lobes to send signals to the pgm . Re: MC21 no spark on one cylinder
I don't see the difficulty.
Throw Honda shit box PGM in bin or find some unsuspecting dolt on the NSR forum to flog it to.
Buy Ignitech or Zeeltronic THEN AND ONLY THEN DO YOU GRIND LOBES OFF
Wire up and promptly forget about shitty Honda electrics.
Done

Yep.
As Lozza said
Zeeltronic + 1 lobe flywheel.. That's what we've been saying all along

Re: MC21 no spark on one cylinder
Get a mate to help you , pull the plugs out , put a drill and socket onto the flywheel , spin it and check for power at every joint along the way .
Take it from there and see what happens , you should find the problem .
Used pgm's are expensive and are 20 years old , a replacement one could pop 1 month later as per Murphy's law . Sometimes they can be repaired .
