What performance from standard 350LC ?
Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Looking good mate, I'm not working Mon-Tue going Os on Wed to NewZealand back Sun nite.
So either Mon or Tue suit?

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Good stuff boys.
Try testing first with the maps that come already in the unit before you go playing around with custom maps. You'll probably find one of the default ones will suit your bike quite well.
And considering there is no change in advance at all on the standard bike, you should feel a nice difference, especially in the mid range where you can get more advance in.
And don't forget that a two stroke is a bit different to other engines in that we need the ignition to reduce once we get over around 9000 rpm. From there we have a fairly sharp decline in advance, so don't assume there is an error in the curves there and be tempted to "fix" it.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
No probs doco I will be home all day on Monday was going to shoot over on Sun however the boss informs me that we have a birthday party to attend...........................sorry.
I hope I can get this ignition hooked up might have to drop around Hybrid If I get stuck ,you mentioned slotting out the plate can you remember which way you need to slot clockwise or anti clockwise?
Dosent anti clockwise advance it thats what we want right?.
Worse case scenario Ive got spare plates that I could pre slot thus saving your time.
Will the timming affect the jetting? I wouldnt think so.
Cheers Ant

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Hi Ant,
timing *could* affect your mixtures, because if you have more advance, you're starting the burn earlier. But just keep an eye on your plugs. It should be okay.
No probs to come around if you need to.
As far as slotting the backing plate - take your clutch cover off and see which way the motor spins. You want to be able to move the plate in the OPPOSITE direction.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Great I will let you know how I progress, Ive been running at 1.9 btdc to help reduce detonation if the zeal advances timming do I run into probs with detonation this could be a worry.
Or am I worrying about nothing?

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Zeeltronic does whatever you want it to.
You're advancing the static timing, but the "real" timing is determined by the zeeltronic. So if you have detonation issues, go into the ignition map and knock the timing back in the RPM range that its detonating.
Remember that the LC's timing is FIXED in stock form, say at 20BTDC.
Now 20 BTDC might suit part of the rpm range, but its certainly not going to suit everywhere. The zeeltronic will actually help your detonation problem, because it allows you to use the optimal timing throughout the whole range.
Don't forget, you need to know what your static angle (in degrees) is so you can enter it in the zeeltronic. You need a dial guage or a degree wheel to work this out. I think Borut has a spreadsheet to help you calculate the angle from mm/BTDC.
Ideally, you want to slot your rotor enough to give you at least 35 degrees static advance.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Okay Zeel arrived today many thanks to Doco!!
I understand that there are 1-10 pre-programmed curves this is good keeps it simple I would think that in that range their would be a curve to suit the Lc.
As far as customising a curve ...........................think I will keep away from that for now and keep it simple.
Does the handheld programmer show the curve
An example of 2 curves from Zeel
Curve 1) 1500rpm - 9000rpm 2)1500-11,300rpm
I assume these being curve 1&2 on the handheld?.
So lets say bike is being run solely on the road I would be looking for a curve close to number 1 I'm thinking max rpm at 9500-10,000rpm to play it safe.I would use curve 2 on the track because the bike will be mostly running around that rev range right?.
Connection of the box looks easy suggestion of location Hybrid?.
Feel the rest of the set up might pin me working out static angle however will read the manual a couple of times before I call for help.
Cheers Ant

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
From memory, I cable tied mine upside down under the rear tank mount. Seemed to fit there quite well from memory, and was fairly close to all the wires needing tapped into.
I would not bother switching maps for track or street. The only reason I would even consider doing that is if I was going to run race fuel on the track and could get away with a more aggressive curve.
You can have a curve that works up to 11,500 on the street, and just set the rev limiter to to 9,500 or 10,000.
Then if you do go to the track and want to rev it harder, you can lift the limiter.
The way the curves work is as follows:
- You tell it how many positions you want in the curve
- You set the RPM for each position
- You set the advance for each position
So you could say you wanted 12 positions.
500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, 10000, 10,500
Then you set your advance for each one of those RPMs.
Eg
15, 16 , 20, 25, 27 , 30, 32, 25, 20, 18, 15, 7, 2
And you set a rev limiter.
You can go into each curve and scroll through its settings.
If you have a way of measuring your mm BTDC, then the rest is easy - the excel spreadsheet works out your degrees for you. You just need to know some data such as stroke etc that is widely available.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Okay semi understand.
If I stick to the 1-10 defult settings then I shouldnt need to play around with it for the moment till I get a better understanding.
Would only need to set the limiter.
Are you using the defult settings or have you customised?
I have a dial guage as I bought it for a build which is why I set the timming at 1.9mm btdc.Yam standard setting for the Lc is 2.0mm I took the advice of a builder and dropped it back 1mm to lesson the chances of deto and It has worked, so yeah I can use one been a while but instructions are in the manual.
It would be interesting to look at a standard curve and work of that might google it.
Thanks for your help

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
There is no standard curve.
Its 20 degrees advance EVERYWHERE.
I'm using a slightly modified version of one of the curves that came out of the box.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
A flat 20 deg across the entire RPM range? That would limit the top RPM significantly!
Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Yes, the RDLC CDI has no curve in it out of the box. The RZ has.
That is why you can use the stock RDLC CDI with the zeeltronic, but not the RZ one.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Id like to have a look at your bike!
Have you been ridding larger cc bikes if so the the lc will defo feel like a wet bag.
Funny I was taking the 750 for a blue slip on tue I thought it was down on power because Im used to the zing of a 2 stroke the mechanic doing the rego thought it was perfect ........................
