My RZ250/350/R6/RGV Hybrid Build

Hi Guys and girls
I tought i would start a thread up on here The go to wow of my build.
The RZ Street Fighter
Ill say on the outset dont expect massive updates weekly' Unfortunaly the world requires that i have a steady form of income LOL so time is tight.
It all started when i saw a half finished R6 RZ hybrid on the RZ350 forums and tought im going to do that.
Here is a mock up i done quickly on PS

So over the past months i have been collection parts
So far i have
1986 RZ250 Frame. ($150 from a forum connection)
RZ bottom end ($100 from a forum connection)
RGV 1994 VJ22 Swing arm shock and linkages (when i went to collect the forks this was there made a offer for $140 cash for complete rear end and he took it )
RGV 1994 VJ22 Front end. (from evil Bay $280.00)
R6 Seat Plastics and Seat (Plastic damaged from wreakers $20.00 seat from evil Bay $35.00 delivered)
RGV carbon fibre front fender and rear hugger (on its way from the tuningworks in the UK worked out about $250 for both)

Stuff still to get to complete the roller
R6 tank 1999-2002 ($$$$)
R6 complete rear sub frame (can get for 150 USD from ebay delivered prob will take that)
Wheels Will proberbly end up with RGV units but im trying to track down a set of SV 650 late modle to get the 5 inch rear wheel

And so it begins LOL
i would post picks of the parts but its a little boring LOL

well i got a quote for fixing the seat plastic
'and was told if i rub it back to 400 wet and dry that it would cost me 70 bucks to get it fixed, ABS primed, gravel rash fixed and Hi FI undercoat
Sounds good to me
So here it is after many hours of 180 wet , 240 wet and 400 wet lol. one ABS seat and 1 sore arm


Also went to put the front end toghter
Bottom Tripples are bent.
Forks are straight atleast
MMMMM so 2nd hand RGV unit of spill for a nice billet set
Hope to have the seat back next week if all gos well will post up the details of the place.

well i have brought a fair bit in the last few days
Got my tapered needle rollers on the way from the UK so i can fit my RGV stem into the RZ frame without changing steering head stems,
I needed to find some 48mm OD 25mm ID and 48mm OD and 30mm ID bearings and found them here if anyone needs some

Great to deal with and fair shipping charges
got a set of wheels and Axls spacers callipers (pretty much everything i need for the front and rear end.
I ended up with 2 wheels so im going to sell the one left over
Got a pair of Driven Superbike bend street bars with risers.
have been playing arond with placement of stuff seeinf if it will all fit
And it will .
Next week the great Frame weld is happing

Thats a great job you've done the front and rear ends compliment each other.
Personally I have a problem with the spaggetti frame in between It's the one thing that lets It down.

A Tzr250 frame would've been my choice over Rz, if It was a budget build the bottom hoop is easily obtainable and the box section frame is less prone to twisting.

However each to their own I hope It meets your requirements goog luck and keep up the hard work.

The r6 tail is in the process of being modded
ill put it this way
I have made custom shock mounts and subframe mounts
there is nothing left of the original subframe or shock mounts
so its quite a large job LOL
should have it finished in 2 weeks than ill have a complete roller
here is what i have been up to
Finally found the headkight assembly i was after
picked up a 1050 speed tripple mount and lights
just have to cut dont the dash mount to fit the motogadget light and moto sign


un fortunaly the only place i could fine one was the US so will be a few weeks before ican weld on the mounts for it to the sterring head
Started making my bushes but as always broke a carbide and couldnt find my spares so that was the end of that (will finish them up next weekend will have 11 sets spare if anyone wants to buy RGV to RZ bushes LOL)
Welded up some lumps up near the steering head files them flate than Drilled and tapped some M6 holes for the front tank mount to attach to
So the front is mounted

1. You gotta have a dub to lathe

2. Boring to the correct clearance

3. dada and it fits LOL

Going to make up the new top and bottom shock mounts (im using the original linkages from the RGV
than ill mount the R6 subframe
andother 4 weeks and she will be coming along
Got theangles right runnining at 24degrees Rake 1415cm wheel base
So slightly steeper but longer so im happy with that also got a trail of 65mm (2.5 inchs) which is just enough im feeling i must invest in a nice steering damperner as it is between the 2 to 4 inch best trail lenght but is on the unstable side

Yeh the TZR frame would be stiffer
but this is just a sunday arvo coffee run bike
And im going for the street fighter look so the tube frame looks better i feel
it is getting the hole bracing package i do remeber running around on my GSX 1100 fogotten era bike 12 years ago
i know all about riding a bike that feels like it got a hing in it LOL

well i played around with the subframe today
i cut off 75mm from the bottom tube so it will sit nicley behing the frame so i can weld on some mounting brackets.
Had to use the tube bender to bend the arms 18mm intowards the frame so it sits flush with the out side.
i than got the grider and removed the mounting hole stubbs to be re welded into the tube

than on the bike




So once i find someone to tig up the stuby ill grind up some mounting tabes and clamp them on and weld them
than ill move on to the top mount and surpension
coming alont slowly

well sat morning so i started cuttin out the bits of frame i dont need
and started working on the new mounts for the Triump rearsets i will be buying

great to see diffrent folks take on what to do to mod a bike
i did an 86 f2 a couple of years ago and had a ball doing it. rgv usd forks, banana swinger cut out the rear shock mount so as an rgv one would fit. i will see if i can get some pics up...mike
