What should I do with an RZ250 rolling frame

Post by pkay »

I have a naked RZ250 rolling frame which is basically all there bar the engine and seat. Does anybody have any suggestions on what to do with it? I am contemplating trying to source and engine (I presume an RZ350, RD250LC and RD350LC engine will also go in without an issue) and seat (already found one) and rebuild the bike. Or break it up and sell the bits which would be a shame. I'd be interested in what you guys would think the chances are of finding either a long motor or at least a set of useable crankcases to build up an engine? It seems that heads and internals are fairly easy to source, just need something to stick them in!!!
Cheers

the following 4T propaganda was brought to you by your local 2T lobby group...

"whats that youve got there?... a 450? "
yeah...
"what cereal packet did that come out of? "
huh?...
"I just wanted to know, because theres nothing worse than finding a piece of shit in the bottom of your corn flakes. "

Defo do it, let your imagination run wild, lots of options for a hot motor and different forks/wheels and other upgrades. I also have one, along with my other builds... Love these bikes!

Will a Banshee motor fit without having to modify the frame?

Banshee will bolt straight in.. its basically the same motor with non powervalve barrels and some changes to gearing.

Sell it and get an Aprilia 250 Mk2 complete all the conversions, and do-ing up is done for you.

After all that you still have a shitbox RZ frame, Aprilia's didn't look that good they look go and handle far far better.

Got one, no challenge in that (but a great idea).

Having resisted the urge to part it out I have taken delivery of a RZ250 YPVS long motor and will be embarking on a long term resto of the RZ. Ending up being offered 2 for very reasonable prices given how much people were asking for just the bottom end on Fleabay. Strangely I feel a lot better about that than junking the poor thing.

Findapart.com.au - awesome.

Does that mean you have a spare RZ motor pkay?
I've been tossing up putting an RZ/Banshee motor in the LC if I get one at the right money.
