rz steering head bearings
rz steering head bearings
pulled apart steering head bearings because they are notchey, and they are cup and cone type with loose ball bearings.does anybody know the upgraded part number, tappered type and seal part number.hopping to pick them up from abc bearings. thanks john
Re: rz steering head bearings
i got the bearings from bikebiz parramatta $90.00 plus three dollars for the bottom seal.the new bearings are cassed bearings.

Re: rz steering head bearings
Measure the steering head stem dia, the steering head dia and the height of the bearing and any bearing shop will get you a replacement for considerably less than $90.rocet23 wrote:pulled apart steering head bearings because they are notchey, and they are cup and cone type with loose ball bearings.does anybody know the upgraded part number, tappered type and seal part number.hopping to pick them up from abc bearings. thanks john
Re: rz steering head bearings
Jeez John, Like I said on the phone... ebay was the way... half price landed from there for bearings plenty good enough

Re: rz steering head bearings
yeah you would think so,abc bearings wanted $90.00 for one and $30.00 for the top one.and cbc bearings wasnt much cheaper.must be weird sizes. the top one is 48,25 13.the bottom one is 48od,30id,13height.the one at abc had different seals and would not fit anyway but i think the seal comes out between the cone and bearing.he would not let me open the packet up.yeah ebay is cheaper but needed them to keep plotting on
Re: rz steering head bearings
The mob from NZ that advertise on eBay, pyramid parts are very good. They do full sets seal, race and bearing - even provide a tube of bearing grease to go with it. I've used them for steering bearings, wheel bearings, all types of seals as well without any problem.
Re: rz steering head bearings
I got some dust seals from them for my LC forks and they were absolute shite! Made from some soft floppy rubber... I did get a tube of rubber grease, so it wasn't a complete waste of money!pkay wrote:The mob from NZ that advertise on eBay, pyramid parts are very good. Re: rz steering head bearings
I wouldn't bet it's rubber grease. Probably raspberry jam with the pips taken out.
Re: rz steering head bearings
Is it just me or do rubber parts always seem to be a quality problem?
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.
Re: rz steering head bearings
Rather worse implications gor brake servicing kits and the like.

Re: rz steering head bearings
Ive had a couple sets of Pyramid bearings now and I won't buy them again.
Did the wheel bearings for the Hybrid and they were noticably notchy from the start, ended up replacing with CBC Japanese bearings and now perfect.

Re: rz steering head bearings
Thats interesting Pete, Ive had lots of them and theyve always been ok. I notcie that the All Balls packaging is the same as the Pyramid Products stuff, so I wonder if they are the same supplier?
Re: rz steering head bearings
It did taste rather nice, now you come to mention it!fred99999au wrote:I wouldn't bet it's rubber grease. Probably raspberry jam with the pips taken out.

Re: rz steering head bearings
Any advance on finding out if AllBalls is the same stuff as Pyramid?
I have seen too many negative posts about Pyramid to use them.
