Even if I was cashed up to the gills I still would not pay that for a secondhand bike. You could do a mint resto for a fraction of that and have a better bike.
And then you can go to the RTA and get permission to zero the clock. One new 350LC to look at.

i never looked at it that way before, all up my resto is costing 8 grand, that includes the initial cost of the bike and close to a grand in postage for parts ,most parts are from the uk and usa, if i never start it up , no oil in engine, water in radiator it will never leak, never be dropped on the road and will always look new with some tlc. but i want to get it running just so i could say i did it.

To say I'm flabbergasted would be the understatement of the century.

But I'm actually more cynical than flabbergasted; a sale ain't a sale until the money is in the bank  .

You most certainly can't accuse the seller of 'overselling' the bike. If the seller can get $27,877.77 for a bike I rate as a $5000 bike and make $x in seven years, he shows greater collector acumen then I'll ever have  .

There is one on eBay now for 8k with 57000 on the clock, reserve not met. It looks like we are off and running, never mind selling drugs just sell LCs
Did anyone see the 250 that sold last we for $650 I think it was. The seller even said he found it in the rubbish, head missing and the left side cover with major water damage and all rusted up inside.

A lot of people trying to sell off of a sudden, not saying anything about any particular one, but when they get to silly prices for scrap or mental prices for normal bikes I start thinking the boats left port, may as well look at modern bikes again!
On the other hand a lot of them just seem to keep getting relisted.

There's a low mileage original and very tidy Japanese market RC30 in Peter Stephens in Adelaide, the price mentioned - before negotiation - was $30k. I've seen seemingly tidy ones for less. Really good RG500 in Adelaide went a few months ago for less than $15k, and good (not crap) RZ/RD500's seem to go for 10 to 15k. Just an interesting comparison, to my mind.
