Ok, so when you build one, don't remove the tang.
I'll continue to do it :)

Does anyone know where I can source exhaust flange gaskets to suit by DG flanges to seal between cylinder and flange? Or perhaps recommend something easy to make them from?

Waiting for parts to come from overseas so Peak Rebores can finish the honing etc the will fit it up in a couple weeks when I'm back from overseas :D

What do they look like?

You could just buy some exhaust gasket sheet and cut out your own.

They were kind of a green papery stuff before, from memory.

They seemed pretty good but are nackered now obviously.

I should clarify... it's the sheet stuff I'm talking about.

Just trace the shape required and cut it out.

:like: Just got back from overseas and my parts have arrived :like:

I opted for RD400 pistons that do not require modification.

Got a gasket set also, the packaging was average for something that was to travel 17,000 kms. It came in pretty rough shape. What do you think of the head gaskets in the image attached?

Anyway off to the engineer to drop off the pistons

Grateful as always!

As long as the gasket is not kinked you should be ok.

Will I need to do ignition timing after putting the top end back together?

I was done prior to pulling the top end. Don't have tools or any experience with points.

Thanks mate, stoked.

Ordered a dial gauge anyway so I can learn for futures sake. In saying that, I'm interested in the "Vintage Smoke" kit and will probably get one once it's run in.

Got my barrels back from Peak Rebores and they look amazing. Thanks for the recommendation, glad I didn't take them somewhere else. He smoothed my ports and checked my heads etc.

Gonna put it back together tomorrow and run it on premix until I've confirmed the pump is all apples. EPApolice you mentioned oil delivery can be dodgy when the oil level is low, my light was on for one or two kms when things began to run rough and I can remember a funny smell coming from the oil tank later when I went to top it up (before noticing the rattle).

Should be blue-slipped and reg'd by this weekend to start running in.

Can't wait to get out and ride this thing. Anyone in Sydney keen for a blat let me know...

Snapped one of the exhaust flange studs. Devastated.

Gonna try and bog it up temporarily and see how it goes.

Anyone going to this http://www.2014.throttleroll.com/
